LAN Party
of 6/13-14/08 (5/2/08)
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Gamers of all form factors,
The FORCEGamers LAN
party planning organization is proud to announce our next party! Here are the details:
The LAN Party will be
held June 13-14, 2008, at
Risen Savior. Their space worked very well for us last time and we're pleased to be able to use
this location again. Doors open at 6pm and we'll kick off festivities at 7pm Friday night. The party will run through Saturday afternoon.
Feel free to run home and catch a nap late Friday if you're not the all-nighter type, but don't forget to come back on Saturday.
Admission is $8 per
seat, and if you bring a friend who's new to the FORCE, your admission is free. Also, for this party, we will be initiating an RSVP
incentive: if you use the PayPal link on the right side of the page (it will also be on the 6/13-14/08 LAN Party
page) to RSVP, we will give you a $3 discount off your admission. That makes the admission fee $5! This will also guarantee you a seat
at the party.
Stay tuned to this
website and the LAN Party page located here for more information (another link is located to the right). we are
still still figuring a few things out such as tournaments and an overall schedule, but we'll throw that all up as soon as possible. Any kind
of big updates will be emailed to everyone as usual.
We look forward to
seeing you all there!
Announcing the brand new FORCEGamers Forum! (4/8/08)
In response to the
numerous requests, we have decided that FORCEGamers needs an opportunity for discussion as a community. So, we have created a forum where
our members can discuss anything and everything. You can find the link to the forum here or on the right side of the page.
We hope that you all
head over and check it out. It's easy to register, just input your username and password and you're all set. We'll be posting particular
topics that we'd love to get input on from you (as they come to our attention). In addition, there is a discussion section that everyone can
start threads in on any topics they'd like to discuss. Seriously, go for it, anything under the sun can and should go up in that section.
We look forward to
seeing you on the boards!
LAN PARTY
12/7/07
On this, the 66th
anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we are holding the F.O.R.C.E.'s first official LAN PARTY!!! A quick reminder to come, bring your computer, and
prepare to have fun!!! Doors open at 6pm, the Tournament registration is from 6pm until 7:45pm, and the Tournament begins at
8pm. Saturday morning we'll be trying out a Team Tournament at 10am.
See you there!!!
Update
12/5/07
We are now 2 days
away from the LAN Party. This is just a quick update before kickoff. A new link has been placed on the right side that will take you to a
page that has essential information about the LAN Party, including info on the Tournaments. Check it out!
Also, just a quick
reminder. As of right now, it's supposed to snow on Friday morning, but not during the party. We expect to be shoveled out from any
accumulation by the time of the party, but it will still be wet. You may want to bring a change of footwear in case of foul weather. In
fact, you are encouraged to do so to keep the Church's floors clean.
We will be heading
out to the Church tomorrow to set up. Pray that all goes well. Once that's done, we'll be ready for kickoff!
See you on Friday!
Update
11/30/07
We are now a week
away from the LAN Party and things are proceeding. We will hopefully be picking up a key for the facility in the next couple of days and
then we'll be all set. We'll be sending out an email this weekend with a reminder about the party, and then we'll see you all on Friday!
A quick note, there
is an admission fee for this party. We will be making a donation to Risen Savior as a thank you for the use of their facility. Please
remember to plan ahead and bring cash not just for the admission fee but also for food. Shelly will be on site selling concessions.
Finally, Jesse was
able to find a number of extension cords, but we could still use more. If you have any that we could borrow during the party, please let us
know so that we can pick them up next week before setup.
Have a great weekend!
Update
11/27/07
Well, we are a
scant 10 days away from the LAN Party and it's time for an update. Emails have been sent out regarding most of this information, but backups
are what keeps things going smoothly.
The Tournament on the
7th will start at 8pm (Lord willing) with registration from 7pm until 7:45pm. We will be running a 1-vs-1 tournament unless we receive a lot
of emails requesting a team tournament. Currently, we are looking at seeding everyone into a double elimination bracket in the order that
you registered. To make sure that everyone's ready for the big day, these are the maps that we will be using (no others):
1-vs-1 Maps
-Idoma
-Irondust
-Spirit
-Trite
-Desolation
Team Maps (just in
case)
-Grendelkeep
-Deck 17
-Asbestos
-Compressed
-Corrugation
We have found
ourselves in need of extension cords. If you or anyone you know has any that are heavy duty or at least 12 ga. or bigger, and you can bring
it to the LAN Party, please let us know. The longer the better...
Finally, just a quick
note. We've added a link on our Games page to a series of "map guides" for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
Check it out if you haven't played and would like to. The game is free, but the levels require an ability to learn...
See you on the 7th!
